dSPACE Introduces MicroAutoBox, Compact In-Vehicle Prototyping System

dSPACE, a developer of integrated hardware and software tools for electronic control units, announced the release of the MicroAutoBox III. The prototyping application adheres to the development of autonomous and electrically powered vehicles which calls for powerful in-vehicle prototyping systems.

MicroAutoBox III contains a quad-core ARM processor which has more flash and DDR4 memory, allowing larger models to be completed. 

According to the company, transferring to the MicroAutoBox III from the MircoAutoBox II simplifies migration to the new system because the existing wiring harnesses can be reused.

Each version of the MicroAutoBox III provides connectivity by means of three Ethernet ports (Gigabit Ethernet) for the host connection and other devices, as well as two automotive Ethernet ports (100/1000 BASE-T1) as a standard.

dSPACE also provides a script that converts RTI-based models to ConfigurationDesk-based models. dSPACE ConfigurationDesk (configuration and implementation software), along with the dSPACE Bus Manager, have been used on systems pertaining to other dSPACE SCALEXIO products. These tools let users reuse models (Simulink, FMU) and I/O configurations, and switch between the MicroAutoBox III and SCALEXIO systems. This reduces the implementation effort for new development projects and provides consistency between compact and modular systems.
