COMPUTEX d&i awards

The day before COMPUTEX officially opened we trekked to the Taiwan International Convention Center in the shadow of Taipei 101 for a pre-show briefing that also highlighted the annual d&i (design and innovation) awards.

Not surprisingly, during his welcome address Walter Yeh, Executive Vice President of the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) that runs COMPUTEX, repeatedly emphasized this year’s focus on the Internet of Things (IoT), cloud, mobile, and Big Data, as well as the growing international presence at the show. As a result, the 2015 COMPUTEX d&i awards comprised of a range of solutions, from rackmount servers to digital signage platforms to wearables.


Figure 1: NFC-enabled multi-function smart rings from UNION GENIUS COMPUTER are a new type of ceramic wearable that can be used in applications such as patient tracking and security/identity management.

Of the 72 d&i award winners announced on Monday, five will be chosen for “Gold Awards” at the official opening ceremony on June 2nd.
