Cadence PCB and SOLIDWORKS CAD Environments Connected by EMA’s CADSync

EMA Design Automation has released CADSync, a tool for funneling design data between Cadence’s Allegro PCB Editor/OrCARD and SOLIDWORKS. With native bi-directional traceability and in-tool access to native CAD data structures, engineering teams can easily share high-fidelity design changes and other information that help reduce development time.

CADSync integrates a PCB toolkit for SOLIDWORKS, allowing ECAD engineers to develop PCB features in their natural design environment. The toolkit also automatically captures the data required to properly specify changes in Cadence PCB. Conversely, MCAD designers can manipulate or simulate PCB components in the context of a mechanical assembly.

By connecting the ECAD and MCAD domains without the use of additional middleware or interchange formats, CADSync removes the potential inaccuracies and miscommunications of manually sharing STEP files.
