Analog Devices announced the release of what the company calls the industry’s first Software Configurable Input/Output (I/O) product line for building control and process automation. Due to this, manufacturers and industrial operators can better control system flexibility while reducing product complexities.
Manufacturers can no longer rely on fixed, large-scale systems designed for mass-market products. This is because they need flexible systems that allow them to adapt to changing requirements. The new software configurable I/O lets the manufactures to efficiently create new projects with more flexible automated control. The results equate to reduced design and installation costs.
According to the company, in using software configurable I/O, manufacturers can develop a platform that replaces multiple aging fixed function I/O modules or be applied across multiple customer applications where the I/O dynamic changes with each installation.
Further, the I/O bridges to ethernet-based control networks as it can further be applied to brownfield installations requiring updates to 10BASE-T1L industrial ethernet systems.
