SAFERTOS® from WITTENSTEIN high integrity systems Expands its Multicore Portfolio with Support for the New STM32H7 Dual-Core Microcontroller

July 1, 2019 WITTENSTEIN high integrity systems
SAFERTOS®, the premier safety RTOS developed by WITTENSTEIN high integrity systems, supports the new STM32H7 dual-core devices released by STMicroelectronics today. The new STM32H7 MCUs are the industry's highest-performing Arm® Cortex®-M general-purpose MCUs, combining dual-core punch with power-saving features and enhanced cyber protection. The STM32H7 dual-core devices combine high performance with multiple security features, including Secure Firmware Install, and built-in support for Secure Boot and Secure Firmware Update. Combining these security features with SAFERTOS's impressive safety credentials makes a compelling solution for developers in the safety and security markets. More information about the SAFERTOS solution for the STM32H7 dual-core MCUs can be found at
SAFERTOS is a safety critical RTOS that has been independently certified by TÜV SÜD to IEC 61508 SIL3 and ISO 26262 ASILD, implemented across industries including Medical, Automotive and Industrial markets. SAFERTOS is used across a variety of multicore designs, and is often seen on the booting or safety core. On the STM32H7 dual-core MCUs SAFERTOS is provided running independently on both Arm Cortex-M4 and Arm Cortex-M7, with synchronisation at start-up. Developers can easily boost efficiency and performance through flexible use of the two cores.
"We are seeing an increasing demand for the performance and efficiency benefits of multicore devices," said Andrew Longhurst, Managing Director of WITTENSTEIN high integrity systems. "We are pleased to offer SAFERTOS fully integrated with the new STM32H7 dual-core devices,  the industry's highest-performing Arm Cortex-M general-purpose MCUs."
"Our newest STM32H7 dual-core, high-performance MCUs with Error Code Correction (ECC) for all Flash and RAM memory are a perfect fit for embedded medical and industrial applications," said Laurent Desseignes, Microcontroller Ecosystem Marketing Manager, STMicroelectronics. "The pre-certified SAFERTOS from WITTENSTEIN high integrity systems enables RTOS-based application developers to quickly isolate safety tasks and get SIL certification."
The new STM32H7 dual-core microcontrollers are entering production and samples are available now. The SAFERTOS demo can be downloaded from
