March 24, 2020 Perry Cohen

WolfSSL announced the release of the wolfJSSE Provider, a Java Secure Socket Extension (JSSE) for security products.

These providers can implement a subset of the functionality used by the Java JSSE security APIs, including SSL/TLS, according to the company. The provider allows users to leverage the native wolfSSL from Java applications. Some advantages include TLS 1.3 support, performance optimizations, hardware cryptography support, FIPS 140-2 validation, among others.

wolfSSL is a lightweight TLS/SSL library and has support for the TLS 1.3 protocol, which is a protocol for transporting data between devices. Additionally, wolfSSL uses the wolfCrypt encryption library to handle its data encryption.

wolfSSL's software is available under open source and standard commercial licensing. Businesses and enterprises must license commercial versions.
