Kontron's modular embedded server fits machine learning/AI

The Zinc Cube C232 is tailored for complex computing tasks requiring the processing and analyzing of huge amounts of data, such as machine learning or artificial intelligence.

Embedded World was clearly a hotbed of product announcements. One key announcement was Kontron’s Zinc Cube C232 embedded server. Obvious features include a compact, cost-optimized design and expanded storage functionality. However, don’t miss the concept that the server is built using a modular approach, making it scalable in all aspects.

The Zinc Cube C232 is tailored for complex computing tasks requiring the processing and analyzing of huge amounts of data, such as machine learning or artificial intelligence. By installing a time-sensitive networking (TSN) card, the embedded server and its four ports is available to an abundance of applications, including edge and fog computing in the embedded cloud.

The server is available with Intel’s 7th Gen server-class processors and can be equipped with up to 32 Gbytes of DDR4 RAM.

From Day 1, the Zinc Cube C232 was developed as a platform for industrial applications, analytics, artificial intelligence, embedded vision, and TSN concepts. It supports Intel’s XEON E3-1200 v6 and 7th Gen Core i7/i5/i3 processors with an LGA 1151 socket. It features two Gigabit Ethernet ports and an independent IPMI port. Other interfaces include two USB 3.0 ports on the front and two on the back, two USB 2.0- interfaces, and a VGA port as well as a PCIe x16 (Low Profile) extension slot. The embedded server features two 2.5-in. SATA SSD/HDD and two 3,5-in. SATA SSD/HDD removable drives, as well as an internal M.2 2280 SSD.

The Zinc Cube C232 is certified for Windows 10, Windows Server 2012 R2, and Linux Server. It’s Microsoft Azure Certified and can be easily used with Microsoft Azure IoT Services.
