AMG Systems Releases Mini Media Converter for Security and Transport Applications

Housed in a mini chassis, AMG's new Mini media converters are ideal for connecting field-based equipment to Ethernet networks over long distances via fiber.

London. AMG Systems’ 9HMEC Mini media converter is strong enough to tolerate extreme temperatures that can interfere with security and transport camera and device installations.

Mini media converters are DIN rail-mountable and small enough for installations in confined spaces provided by camera poles and street cabinets. They are also non-programmable, so user configuration is not necessary.

The device’s converters supply a 100Mbps or Gigabit Ethernet uplink along the fiber via the SFP port, enabling the conversion of IP signals for transport over long distances across all kinds of fiber cabling.

“When a CCTV system is used for security applications, it’s vital that the video signal delivery is maintained, no matter what the external environment is throwing at it,” said Ian Creary, Sales and Technical Support Manager for AMG. “It’s the same for transport applications, which use monitoring cameras and critical signage. This Mini media converter will sit in the box where it’s installed, and it will just work. That’s the key. It’s about reliability and consistent performance, whether that’s in remote, challenging environments like the Middle East or India, or even in the U.K. at the height of summer – a camera pole or a street cabinet box will heat up quite significantly, even in our meagre summers.”
