ZF Switches and Sensors, On Semi to Present Bluetooth 5 energy harvesting switch at Electronica

ZF Switches and Sensors, and On Semi, have joined forces to demo a Bluetooth 5 LE switch at Electronica.

ZF Switches and Sensors, and On Semi, have joined forces to demo a Bluetooth 5 LE switch at Electronica in booth 530, hall B3 (ZF) and booth 101, hall C4 (On Semi), respectively.

ZF’s energy harvesting generator, now paired using Bluetooth low energy.

The switch is a combination of ZF’s electromechanical energy-harvesting switch assembly (right) with ON Semiconductor’s RSL10 SIP – a low-power Bluetooth 5 certified system-in-package.

“The SIP solution features such ultra-low-power characteristics that a low-loss Schottky diode bridge rectifier and electrolytic capacitor is enough to provide power from the switch to the Bluetooth 5 device,” ZF stated. “This enables the switch to be used with applications for Bluetooth Low Energy communications.”

It is expected to be used in buildings, home automation, lighting, shutter control, healthcare, alarm systems, fall detection and vehicle counting.
