Wi-Fi Alliance Announces Certification for Wi-Fi 6E Now Available

The Wi-Fi Alliance announced its certification for Wi-Fi 6E is now available to deliver interoperability for devices operating in the 6 GHz spectrum.

The Wi-Fi Alliance announced its certification for Wi-Fi 6E is now available to deliver interoperability for devices operating in the 6 GHz spectrum. Per a press release, certification for Wi-Fi 6E, as part of Wi-Fi CERTIFIED, was brought to fruition to push global momentum for Wi-Fi operation as the 6 GHz band is increasing.

Certification from the Wi-Fi Alliance ensures users will receive a secure, reliable, and interoperable experience with Wi-Fi 6E devices.

Per a press release from the Alliance, following the decision by the U.S. Federal Communications Commission to open 1200 MHz of 6 GHz spectrum for Wi-Fi use, the U.K., Europe, Chile, South Korea, and the United Arab Emirates have also made the decision to deliver 6 GHz for Wi-Fi. Countries including Brazil, Canada, Mexico, Peru, Taiwan, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Myanmar, and Jordan are quickly progressing towards opening 6 GHz for unlicensed operation.

Further, the Wi-Fi 6E certification leverages WPA3 security. WPA3, which uses GCMP-256 encryption, has been updated to support stronger password generation, mitigate attacks, and protect privacy on networks.

Capabilities of Wi-Fi CERTIFIED 6 include orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA), target wake time (TWT), and multi-user multiple input, multiple output (MU-MIMO).
