VARTA Showcases Battery Solutions Portfolio at embedded world

VARTA Microbattery's trade fair presentation focused on Nickel-Metal Hydride cells, Lithium coin cells, and Lithium-Ion coin cells (microbatteries) as energy supply for applications in the IoT.

VARTA showcased its portfolio of battery solutions for Internet of Things (IoT) devices at embedded world which took place in Nuremberg, Germany in February.

VARTA Microbattery's trade fair presentation focused on Nickel-Metal Hydride cells, Lithium coin cells, and Lithium-Ion coin cells (microbatteries) as energy supply for applications in the IoT.

"Embedded systems are becoming increasingly smaller and their areas of application ever more diverse,” said Philipp Miehlich, general manager OEM at VARTA, in a press release. “Accordingly, users must be able to rely on a reliable and safe power supply, which we can guarantee with our broad battery range."

VARTA’s microbattery offers a range of rechargeable Nickel-Metal Hydride (NiMH) cells and batteries to meet requirements of devices. The NiMH cells are characterized by robustness, performance, extended temperature range, and scalability (1.2 V system).

It's crucial that batteries have a long life, flat design, and low weight. The company’s primary Lithium cells and batteries are aimed at meeting the critical data protection demands of electronic systems in the metering and security market.

The company also showcased its rechargeable CoinPower series of Lithium-Ion coin cells for applications such as wireless headphones, wearables, and medical sensors. The VARTA CoinPower series has the highest energy density in the Lithium-Ion cell market, which is up to 30% greater than that of comparable batteries, according to the company.
