Traxens announced a partnership with the Port of Rotterdam in the Container 42 smart container project, where the company will provide support for logistical efficiency, sustainability, and the future of this technology in the supply chain. Leaving the port of Rotterdam earlier this year on its first leg of a two-year data-collecting mission around the world, the container houses an array of sensors and communications equipment.
The purpose of the initiative is to measure changes in container parameters like vibration, slope, position, sound, local air pollution, humidity, and temperature. The unit has also been fitted with solar panels, which can be used to determine how much power a container can generate during a given journey by ship, train, or truck. The container is also equipped with Traxens’ device and communication technology, and will generate IoT data via its platform, Traxens Hub.
Partners of the Container 42 Initiative include the following organizations: Port of Rotterdam Authority, IBM, Cisco, Esri, Axians, Intel, HeET Solar, Van Donge & de Roo, Awate.ai, Bette Batteries, Simwace, and Shipping Technology.
