Toradex i.MX 8X SoMs Support Torizon Embedded Linux, Achieve AWS Cert

May 19, 2020 Brandon Lewis
Toradex's Colibri and Apalis i.MX 8X-based system on modules now support the Torizon industrial embedded Linux software platform. Torizon is an open-source Linux distribution that integrates with Visual Studio and Visual Studio Code, and comes with a secure, automotive-grade over-the-air (OTA) update client.

In addition, the Colibri iMX 8X has achieved AWS certification for use with Amazon IoT Greengrass. As part of the AWS Device Qualification program, this certification makes the Colibri IMX 8X devices available in the AWS Device Catalog and simplifies the process of connecting to the cloud.

Both Toradex SoMs are available with up to four 64-bit Armv8 Cortex-A35 cores and incorporate Vivante GPUs to support graphics or deep learning development using OpenGL ES, OpenCL, or Vulkan graphics libraries. The boards also feature onboard dual-band 802.11ac 2x2 MU-MIMO Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.

The IMX 8X-based Colibri and Apalis SoMs are both safety certifiable, and retain pin compatibility with earlier Toradex offerings. For more information on Toradex's NXP IMX 8X-based SoM offerings, visit https://www.toradex.com/computer-on-modules.
