OmniVision's New OV0VA10 SoC Now Available

SoC uses advanced pixel technology, featuring compact size, top VGA camera performance and maximum notebook battery life, with excellent low light sensitivity for video conferencing.

SANTA CLARA, CA. OmniVision Technologies, Inc. released its OV0VA10 SoC, which combines an advanced VGA image sensor and signal processor in a single chip-scale package.

The SoC’s image sensor features a 1/10” optical format and 2.2-micron pixel size, enabling thin-bezel notebook designers to install low light image capture for applications including videoconferencing.

The OV0VA10’s OmniPixel®3-HS architecture improves color performance with symmetric pixel design to remove color shading and enhance signal-to-noise ratio. It also offers high quantum efficiency for more accurate color reproduction and low light performance, while operating at 30fps.

“Analysts predict that 20 percent of embedded notebook cameras will remain at VGA resolutions for the foreseeable future, due to cost considerations in the entry-level market,” said OmniVision’s product marketing manager, Jason Chiang. “By introducing this new OV0VA10 SoC with advanced pixel technology, OmniVision is increasing the performance and extending the viability of the VGA notebook camera market.”

OmniVision will be showcasing the OV0VA10 SoC at Computex this week, May 28-30.
