CANopen support for IoT starter kit

SYS TEC (Germany) has ported its CANopen stack on Avnet Silica?s Visible Things IoT Industrial kit, which represents a ready?to?use and integrated IoT platform.

Exclusively for the users of the Avnet Silica's Visible Things IoT Kit, a CANopen library has been implemented. It is available free-of-charge for the evaluation of CANopen connectivity.

The starter kit provides a turnkey solution based on the Renesas Synergy platform, that allows stating designing at the API level and is equipped to handle a range of connectivity tasks. The product connects CANopen devices to the cloud.

The implemented set of CANopen functions allows realizing a CANopen NMT slave device according to CiA 401 (I/O device). The time?limited CANopen library complies with CiA 301. It features by default: one TPDO, one RPDO, SDO server, and Heartbeat producer functionality. The CANopen interface can be configured as self-starting node or as node starting by means of the NMT start remote node services. The PDO configuration, node?ID, and bit-rate can be configured and changed on user level.

For users who have the requirement to implement an own CANopen-specific application, the company offers the “CANopen Master & Slave Source Code CiA 301” as well as the “CANopen Manager Source Code CiA 302”. Both support the Renesas Synergy platform and thereon based target platforms.

The company’s CANopen experts are available for consulting as well as integration workshops and adaptation services on such integrated target platforms. Avnet Silica (Hall 1, booth 370) and SYS TEC (hall 2, booth 631) are part of the upcoming Embedded World 2018. The exhibition takes place from 27 February to 1 March, 2018 in Nuremberg, Germany.
