HomeGrid Forum and the GiGAWire Alliance have announced a new certification scheme for G.hn access equipment.

The program began due to the need to deploy interoperable G.hn equipment in broadband access networks. This will help speed the development of network solutions based on ITU-T G.hn standards and follows on from HomeGrid Forum’s current certification program.

In collaboration, the companies will focus on innovating G.hn technology, providing broadband for large apartment complexes, office, and other buildings of the such.

By building on the work already done by the GiGAWire Alliance, it’s now possible to support multiple users through bundle cabling.

Further, it encourages service providers to leverage copper wiring within buildings to deploy broadband as a less expensive option compared to Fiber to the Home (FTTH) deployments.
