Western Digital Releases New Storage for IoT

Smart factories and IoT devices benefit from reliable, low-power storage solutions built to thrive in varied environments.

Western Digital Corp’s portfolio of products focuses on its customers’ demand for high-endurance storage solutions in an array of IoT devices. The portfolio deploys advanced, high-endurance 3D NAND in many different form factors that offers industrial-market solutions for developers of edge computing gateways, robotics, medical, inspection/surveillance, and artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) applications for industrial and IoT system designers.

The Western Digital iNAND IX EM132 EFD is the company’s initial 3D NAND e.MMC built with Western Digital’s 64-Layer 3D NAND technology for Industrial and IoT devices.

Some varieties of the iNAND IX EM132 EFD support operating temperature ranges of either -25°C to +85°C or -400C to 85°C. It also features:

·      Advanced health monitoring

·      Thermal management

·      Smart partitioning

·      Auto and manual read refresh

·      Robust power management

·      Data retention that meets JEDEC standards

Western Digital’s Industrial IX LD342 SD and IX QD342 micro SD cards offer durability for OEMs, distributors, resellers, integrators and industrial system designers leveraging more flexibility for evolving industrial applications.

“As more industrial applications and devices apply AI and ML algorithms to get real-time actionable insights, the need for versatile and durable storage solutions increases,” said Western Digital’s Senior Director, Device Group, Oded Sagee. “Western Digital’s industrial-grade, storage solutions provide the high endurance, low power and reliability essential for IIoT equipment such as robotics, gateways, AI-enabled devices, edge computing products and drones.”
