Infineon and Synopsys Join Forces on Implementing AI into Automotive Applications

In order to support AI-driven solutions with its future automotive microcontrollers, Infineon Technologies has started a collaboration with Synopsys, Inc.

Infineon Technologies’ AURIX microcontrollers back AI-driven solutions that implement a new high-performance AI accelerator called a Parallel Processing Unit (PPU) that will leverage Synopsys’ DesignWare ARC EV Processor IP.

As AURIX already supports some neural networks, the PPU will use real-time and AI capabilities to allow the AURIX to process data from advanced sensors where it is currently limited by real-time constraints. The PPU will quicken AI algorithms including Recurrent Neural Network (RNN), Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP), Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), and Radial Basis Function (RBF).

The PPU will also yield layered security concepts emphasizing intrusion detection techniques and prevention systems such as deep packet inspections or system entropy monitoring.
