Mitsubishi’s MELIPC Edge-Computing Solution Serves Smart Factories

December 30, 2019 Alix Paultre

Integrating factory floor operational technology (OT) and IT systems, Mitsubishi Electric’s MELIPC edge-computing solution addresses the needs of a smart facility. Features include functional optimizations such as predictive maintenance, or quality control with real-time data analysis. The real-time process software provides local diagnostics and visualization for shop-floor analytics.

Using analysis algorithms for predictive maintenance and quality control, in continuous production applications the MELIPC Series can improve processes, as well as adapting to variables. Efficiency is improved by generating a real-time predictive model, which can be updated and refined based on updated demands from the process. Processing data at the physical edge of operations can also improve data security and process integrity.
