Rohde & Schwarz, MediaTek Validate 5G NR Capabilities in Comprehensive Network Simulation

The test setup involved a 5G network simulation that used a 3GPP Release 15-compliant signaling connection, and validated the MediaTek chipset for use in 5G NR deployments.

MUNICH, GERMANY & HSINCHU, TAIWAN. Rohde & Schwarz and MediaTek have completed 5G New Radio (5G NR) signaling tests based on the CMW500 wideband radio communication tester, CMX500 NR signaling tester, and sub-6 GHz Helio M70 5G modem. The test setup involved a 5G network simulation that used a 3GPP Release 15-compliant signaling connection, and validated the MediaTek chipset for use in 5G NR deployments.

The Rohde & Schwarz CMX500 5G NR signaling tester supports non-standalone (NSA) mode and standalone (SA) modes for 5G radios, which is significant because 5G NR devices will initially leverage NSA while relying on existing 4G network infrastructure and transition to SA when 5G networks come online. The CMX500 combines with the CMW500 to provide a versatile test platform over a broad range of spectrum.

Meanwhile, MediaTek claims the Helio M70 5G is the only 5G chipset with dual LTE and 5G connectivity that offers multimode support for all current cellular technologies back to 2G.
