OmniVision Releases Automotive Image Sensor for Cabin Monitoring

2MP RGB-IR sensor offers excellent low and NIR light sensitivity, with high dynamic range and advanced ASIL features, reducing artifacts and increasing system reliability.

SANTA CLARA, CA. OmniVision Technologies’ OV2778 is the industry’s most compact automotive image sensor that is designed for interior applications such as videoconferencing, providing advanced ASIL functional safety, imperative for integration in an ADAS system.

The OV2778 dispenses a 16-bit linear output from a single exposure with best-in-class low-light sensitivity that is manufactured on OmniVision's 2.8-micron OmniBSI-2 Deep Well pixel technology.

"Demand for cabin and occupant monitoring are accelerating growth in the global automotive image sensor market," said OmniVision’s product marketing manager, Thilo Rausch. "Our new OV2778 image sensor enables these applications in mainstream vehicles by providing the best value with high sensitivity across all lighting conditions."
