Microchip Technology released its Adaptec® SmartRAID 3100E RAID adapters, designed provide hardware RAID protection for data in end applications.

Microchip Technology released its Adaptec® SmartRAID 3100E RAID adapters, designed provide hardware RAID protection for data in end applications. The new adapters provide more than 60% performance acceleration compared to the company’s previous Adaptec Series 8E products.

“The SmartRAID 3100E entry-level adapters offer a migration path for those seeking to transition from software RAID solutions or a legacy entry-level hardware RAID solution to Microchip’s proven Smart Storage stack,” said associate vice president of Microchip’s Data Center Solutions business unit Andrew Dieckmann, in a press release. “These adapters offer a built-in DRAM cache of 1 or 2 GB providing significant performance acceleration and lower power over previous generations and are ideal for 4K random read/write workloads.”

The smartRAID 3100E Series is the new product within the company’s PCle Gen 3 SAS-3/SATA SmartRAID 3100 adapters series.

Per the release, the adapters work well with computing and graphical applications, as well as edge computing and storage nodes, and industrial and manufacturing servers.
