Infineon Technologies announced the release of the BCR431U, a constant current linear LED driver IC. It provides low-voltage drop performance for regulating LED current.

Infineon Technologies announced the release of the BCR431U, a constant current linear LED driver IC. It provides low-voltage drop performance for regulating LED current.

This is the company’s second device in the new generation BCR family focusing on low current designs of up to 37 mA.

Additionally, the drop at the integrated driver IC can go down to 105 mV at 15 mA. This helps to improve efficiency and voltage headroom that is required to compensate the LED forward voltages tolerances.  BRCU431U allows for additional LEDs to lighting designs, or to increase an LED strips overall length.

According to the company, the LED current can be easily adjusted through the high ohmic resistor on the pin with an IC supply voltage which ranges from 6V to 42V. A smart over-temperature controlling circuit is also included to keep the current constant even at rising temperatures. However, it helps reduce LED current when the junction temperature gets too high.
