MISRA C is a standard developed by the Motor Industry Software Reliability Association, and aims to foster safety, reliability, and portability of programs written in ISO C for embedded systems.

Since the introduction of the first edition in 1998 and a subsequent revision in 2004, its use has grown steadily and is now used widely in domains beyond automotive including aerospace, medical devices, industrial control, and others.
