I wasn’t expecting to see a V2X demonstration inside the Las Vegas Convention Center, but QNX Software Systems pulled it off.

In the LVCC’s North Hall, automotive technology has domi-nated over the past couple of years, and QNX was displaying their recently announced QNX Platform for ADAS with a demonstration of several very real roadway scenarios. On the floor, engineers from QNX leveraged DSRC antennas to communicate changing GPS coordinates to a stationary Jeep Wrangler and Toyota Highlander, making the vehicles believe that they were traveling on open roadways. They used this formula as a baseline for exhibiting the possibilities of multi-camera vision systems and V2X communications, where the QNX ADAS software was leveraged to control the inputs from onboard cameras, as well as manage notifications from nearby vehicles and/or traffic signals through a remote V2X interface.

Here, Nabil Ould-Brahim, a software developer working on the QNX Automotive Platform, walked me through an emer-gency stop situation, which highlights the software’s vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-infrastructure capabilities.
