Infineon to demo the agility of Electromobility at Electronica 2018

Per Infineon: Electromobility is being made fit for long distances, drones are coming of age, and robots are becoming agile.

Infineon Technologies will showcase the connection between the real and digital worlds in Hall C3, booth 503 at Electronica 2018, from November 13 to 16, 2018.

Infineon’s strategic semiconductor partner, Volkswagen, will present the all-electric concept car demonstrating how semiconductors pave the way for e-driving.

Infineon will present SMA Solar using CoolSiC technology, as the new semiconductor material silicon carbide (SiC) increases the power density by more than 80 percent. This will help charging stations from IONITY enable rapid charging for several hundreds of kilometers.

Infineon will also introduce its CoolGaN product portfolio for data transmission (telecom) and servers. This will provide a new approach to how drones operate. A better development standard of powerful and autonomous carrier drones will be set by AURIX microcontrollers as flight controllers and CoolGaN solutions for engine control.

Visitors who stop by Infineon’s booth will also get introduced to ROBOY, a humanoid with similar agility, cognition and sensitivity to that of a human. Infineon supports researchers at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) who are exploring artificial intelligence in robots. ROBOY 2.0 moves swiftly, is able to recognize people and hold lucid conversations.

Soon, ROBOY may be able to walk with Infineon’s 60-GHz radar sensor XENSIV, helping it recognize the surface below its feet and adapt its movements accordingly with highly responsive sensors from Infineon.
