The PAL encoder accepts 8 or 10 bit, BT656 format, video data which it encodes to fully compatible digital 10-bit composite output video stream. The resulting output can directly drive a simple DAC to provide a near broadcast quality PAL output signal, or be used to drive modulators or other processing blocks.
PT7 uses less than 500 logic elements which allow multiple encoders to be incorporated into even the smallest of the FPGAs. An even smaller version is available where FPGA resources are very limited that provides only fixed output levels. Control of the encoder is via a standard 8-bit microprocessor style interface.
PT7 is supplied as an encrypted ‘black box design for single one-off payment of CA$4995, allowing unlimited use.
An NTSC and 12-bit multi-format version of the encoder will also be available soon.
