Nuremberg, Germany – March 3rd 2009 - Real-Time Systems GmbH today announced that they have signed an agreement with RadiSys Corporation to jointly develop an integrated solution for RadiSys embedded system products. This enables RadiSys to utilize RTS-Hypervisor advantages to serve their embedded customers with better performance and lower cost. Additionally, RadiSys will act as a global reseller of the Real-Time Systems’ Hypervisor technology, supporting Microware® OS-9 as well as other Real-Time Operating Systems, Linux or Microsoft Windows XP.
The agreement solidifies the direction of Real-Time Systems to align itself with leading turnkey solution providers to further the adoption of its unique hard real-time virtualization solution. "We are very excited to enter into this global partnership with RadiSys" said Gerd Lammers, CEO and President of Real-Time Systems GmbH. "Their leadership in embedded computing hardware and software solutions, combined with the RTS Hypervisor technology will enable customers to source turnkey solutions drastically reducing their Time-to-Market.”
The RTS Hypervisor leverages Intel Virtualization Technology (VT). By partitioning processor cores, memory and I/O devices basically into individual, independent computers, the RTS Hypervisor facilitates hardware consolidation and helps to drastically reduce overall system cost without trade-off. Devices or machines that currently use an embedded hardware board in parallel to a separate computer executing Windows XP can now safely be merged on a single multi-core hardware, greatly reducing design-, manufacturing- and maintenance costs. With just one dual core CPU an RTOS can now execute completely independent in parallel to Windows XP or Linux. Other combinations of executing multiple of the same or different operating systems are simply a matter of available CPU cores.
“The RTS Hypervisor technology provides RadiSys with distinct advantages in serving industrial control customers”, said Linda Xiao, director of marketing at RadiSys. “Specifically, the RTS solution helps our customers reduce their total cost of ownership by running both general purpose operating system and the real-time operating system, such as OS-9, concurrently on a single platform.”
