PITTSBURGH, PA – June 15, 2005 – TimeSys ® Corporation, the leading provider of Linux Customization Solutions for the embedded device market, today announced the appointment of embedded industry veteran Michel Genard to the position of Executive Vice President of Marketing and Business Development, based in the company’s growing San Jose, Calif. office.
Mr. Genard will drive the delivery of the embedded software industry’s most complete Linux Customization Solutions, network-based, automated development, build and validation tools. Linux Customization Solutions enable developers to tailor Linux to their exact feature, footprint and hardware requirements while dramatically reducing cost, effort and time-to-market. His responsibilities will include developing TimeSys’ product and services roadmap, expanding global sales channels and strategic partnerships as well as overseeing customer engineering.
“Michel is a premier product strategist and marketer with a well-known record of success in the embedded industry,” said Larry Weidman, President and CEO of TimeSys. “The addition of Michel completes our senior management team at a time when we have a very unique vision and offering in a high-growth industry. His significant experience positioning new products and building the relationships needed to deliver them on a global basis will be vital as we enter our next growth phase.”
With more than 20 years of senior experience in the embedded device market, Mr. Genard was most recently Vice President of Marketing and Business Development at Jaluna, a virtual infrastructure company for embedded systems. Prior to Jaluna, he was Vice President of Platform Marketing and General Manager of the Stand Alone Tools Division at Wind River Systems (NASDAQ:WIND), where he defined the company’s initial Linux strategy. Mr. Genard is a native of France who came to the US to serve as Chief Operating Officer of Accelerated Technology, which was acquired by Mentor Graphics (NASDAQ:MENT) in 2002. While in Europe, Mr. Genard created several US subsidiaries for Wind River, Integrated Systems and Accelerated Technology.
“I am thrilled to join TimeSys when they are the first commercial supplier to enable embedded Linux developers to leverage the flexibility of open source while maintaining full control over the unique requirements of their project,” said Mr. Genard. “A recent embedded.com survey shows that about 50% of embedded developers consider Linux but don’t adopt it because of the lack of tailored, commercial-grade solutions and support. That’s exactly what Linux Customization Solutions deliver, placing TimeSys in a very strong position to lead a transformation of the embedded Linux device market.”
