Fremont, Calif., – July 8, 2009 InnoDisk Corporation announces the world’s smallest, ultra micro, SATADOM, i-100. It is only about 15% of size of general 2.5″ SSD, but has a maximum capacity of up to 64GB. The data transfer rate of i-100 is 100MB/s, twice as fast as traditional hard disk. InnoDisk plans to launch another technical breakthrough product which supports capacities up to 256GB with an ultra fast data transfer rate of 160MB/s in the near future. This miniature SSD solution, i-160, developed by InnoDisk, is focusing on the miniature PC market (as known as Net PC) such as Nvidia Ion solution.
Mr. Richard Lee, Chairman of InnoDisk, says that although this is a very small product, it is a big leap for storage applications. It is gradually replacing the traditional SSD in the process of HDD with a major breakthrough. In addition to easily distinguishing between the three major characteristics, including small size, great capacity and high speed, the consumer in the installation of traditional HDD and SSD are required to use a screwdriver to lock the hard disk in the chassis. InnoDisk SATADOM requires no tools for installation; simply plug into SATA connector and go. The true Plug & Play minimalist drastically reduces the use of traditional installation methods in the psychological barrier. Our goal and marketing strategy is not to replace the existing traditional HDD or SSD, but rather to search for co-existence with the HDD in the market, nanoSSD can be high SSD reliability and high-speed advantages, as a computer system OS Drive or game drive, co-exist with traditional HDD as a mass data storage purpose.
Mr. Lee also states that the SATADOM design is developed in full consideration of the special needs for industrial fields: the miniaturization of solid-state disk products are among the most widely used in the Industrial PC, Thin client, Set Top Box, Game Console, POS, Communication devices, and Military devices. Since 2008, SATA storage products have become more and more popular compared to PATA (IDE). There are 5 key points to make a good and reliable Flash Memory Module: power source, volume, capacity, speed and connector binding reliability followed by industry standard and regulation. However, SATA interface has its limitations. Inherently, there are some pluses and some minuses. However, InnoDisk has the solution to keep all 5 key points in balance by two exclusive innovations, InnoDisk SATADOM Power Build-In Technology and Safe Mounting Technology. Unlike other SATA devices, InnoDisk SATADOM supports Pin 7 build in power supply. With this function, a power cable is not required. Installation is as easy as using a USB drive.
In data security, SATADOM uses average erase static algorithms in firmware design, so every block of NAND Flash will be read and written equally. Therefore, the product life time will be optimized. With SMART function, product life can be expected to make your data even more secure. There is another unique function, Fast Erase that is specially designed for military application purposes. Data will be completely erased within seconds with no trace back. SSD could be widely using on data storage solutions; from the general use of Desk Top PC to very special military applications.
