I’m intrigued by all the buzz here at CES on 3D TV. The CEA guys say that 3D will take about 4 years to ramp up to full speed according to their s-curve acceptance data. They are also saying that this year, 4.3M sets are sold, and by 2013 one quarter of all sets sold will be 3D.

I’m thinking of the Samsung 46″ 240 Hz LED I just bought to preserve the peace a few months ago … arrgggggh. I’m supposed to reload with a 3D TV now in the next three years? We’ve moved to the TV-as-computer business model, maybe. More proof: BestBuy is running that same Samsung $800 cheaper that what I paid a few months back just in time for the SuperBowl.

We just got done with the analog broadcast shutoff in the US, and CEA’s own data says only 35% of consumers have their TV connected to the Internet. We really think 3D is going to move this fast? Love the new technology, still digging around here and hope to have more comments from people talking about 3D soon. Would love to hear your thoughts on this in the meantime.
