Nearly 50 products released between April 1, 2016 and March 31, 2017 were nominated for consideration as one of Embedded Computing Design’s 2017 Most Innovative Products. All nominations were then evaluated by members of Embedded Computing Design’s editorial team and esteemed Advisory Board based on the following criteria:

    • Design Excellence (5 points)
    • Relative Performance (5 points)
    • Market Impact/Disruption (6 points)

Most Innovative Silicon Product: Qorvo, Inc. GP695 SoC

The Most Innovative Product in the Silicon category for 2017 is the Qorvo Inc. GP695 SoC. The GP695 SoC targets IoT-based smart home devices by integrating multiple communications protocols, including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, ZigBee, and Thread in a single power-efficient solution.

The two Honorable Mention awards in the Silicon category were awarded to NXP Semiconductors’ NxH2281 near-field magnetic induction (NFMI) MiGLO radio and Helix Semiconductors’ eMpower HS100 chipset.

Most Innovative Software Product: CEVA Inc. 2nd Generation Deep Neural Network (CDNN2)

The Most Innovative Product in the Software category for 2017 is the CEVA, Inc. second-generation CEVA Deep Neural Network (CDNN2), a software framework that simplifies the development and deployment of neural networks on low-power, cost-conscious embedded systems. A key feature of the toolkit is its ability to eliminate months of development time.

The two Honorable Mention awards in the Software category were awarded to Parasoft’s C/C++test and Cadence Design Systems’ OrCAD Capture Cloud.

Most Innovative Systems Product: Mentor, a Siemens business’ DRS360 Autonomous Driving Platform

The Most Innovative Product in the Systems category for 2017 is the Mentor DRS360 Autonomous Driving Platform. Designed to deliver the low-latency, high-accuracy sensor data processing required for Level 5 autonomous vehicles, this ISO 26262-compliant development platform can be customized with proprietary algorithms and fit within a 100 W system power envelope.

The two Honorable Mentions awards in the Systems category were awarded to the Connect Tech, Inc. Jetson TX2 Array Server (UTX1A) and Themis Computer’s Hyper-Unity platform.
